What Is GoShare?

GoShare is a delivery, logistics, and moving platform that connects driver contractors with customers who need help with a delivery of some sort.

This on-demand delivery work is immensely popular in the gig economy, and there's other apps that pay you to drive and help people with deliveries.

Specifically, GoShare offers the following services:

Last Mile Delivery – Work with local businesses to provide last-minute deliveries to local customers.
LTL Shipments (Less Than Load) – Ship pallets and larger cargo with a box truck or cargo van.
B2B Logistics– Deliver heavier loads, machinery, and whatever businesses that use GoShare need.
Home & Office Moves – Help people and businesses in your community with loading, transportation, and unloading.
Junk Hauling – Haul trash to the junk yard for people and businesses.

What makes GoShare slightly different is the multitude of vehicles you can make deliveries with and, most importantly, the hourly pay.

See, while food delivery apps like DoorDash and Uber Eats pretty much require using a beater that doesn't take up much gas, GoShare is a little different.

We're going to dive into the different eligible vehicle types in a minute.

But first, let's look at how GoShare works for drivers and what the requirements are.

How Does GoShare Work? – Requirements & Getting Started

Once you're a GoShare driver, earning extra cash is really as simple as accepting deliveries in your area and completing the gig.

The real key is getting accepted as a driver. To do that, it's critical to understand GoShare's driver requirements.

1. Meet GoShare's Driver Requirements

To work with GoShare, you must:

Be 18 or older.
Have a vehicle that's no older than 15 years old and isn't a salvage title.
Pass a vehicle inspection (more on this later).
Pass a background check and driving history check.
Have a smartphone that can run the GoShare app.
Have a checking account to receive payments.
Speak English.
Have a valid drivers license, registration, and the minimum insurance requirements for the state you're driving in.

If that sounds like you, it's also important to check that GoShare is in your area!

The platform is expanding to new cities but currently serves about 16 states, including Texas, Florida, New York, and California.

Note:GoShare states that "delivery professionals cover the costs of the background check which is $45, or $150 if you have ever lived in New York state. This fee is non-refundable."

This is an unfortunate starting cost, but when you consider how much GoShare drivers can make, it might be worth it.

2. Pass GoShare's Vehicle Requirements

As a GoShare driver, you can make deliveries with:

Four-door cars and sedans.
Pickup trucks.
Cargo vans.
Box trucks.

Your hourly wage gets particularly lucrative from pickup trucks and up, so if you want to make money with your pickup truck, this could be the platform for you!

However, each vehicle class has a certain set of requirements aside from being newer than 15 years old and not being a salvage title.

The rules are a little specific. For example, pickup trucks need a bed of at least 5 feet. Similarly, there's different classifications between box trucks and cargo vans depending on size.

For starters, give GoShare's vehicle requirements document a read.

The truly important part is to pass GoShare's vehicle inspection.

This involves submitting additional information after your application about your vehicle. You complete an actual inspection at a service station or on a call with a GoShare team member.

The inspection tests aspects like:

Lights.
Steering.
Brakes.
Horn.
Seat belts.
Windshield wipers.

If your tires or body are damaged, you might have to repair these before becoming a driver.

All of this is for insurance purposes, and there's no avoiding it.

However, you can always re-apply to become a GoShare driver if you're rejected, so there's no risk in trying!

3. Get & Accept Deliveries

If you're accepted to become a GoShare driver, you're ready to start making extra money on the side!

Just note: GoShare states the application takes around a week, but a lot of this is dependent on your submitting things like your banking information and completing the vehicle inspection as quickly as possible.

Anyway, once you're set, you can view local delivery opportunities in your area on GoShare's app.

Accept-Gigs

You're an independent contractor, so you're free to accept or skip jobs depending on your schedule and what they entail.

Also note:some jobs are for individuals whereas some jobs are for helpers.

Individual jobs pay you a variable range based on your vehicle and what task you're doing.

In contrast, GoShare also lets you work as a helper.

Helpers don't require a vehicle, and instead tag along on GoShare gigs that require two delivery professionals.

Helpers earn around $40 per hour, and anyone accepted to GoShare can work as a Helper (which is handy if you don't always want to drive your vehicle to make extra cash).

4. Complete The Gig

Once you accept a job, it's time to put in the work!

GoShare handles all of the details with the customer, so you essentially get an address, show up, and get to work.

However, customers do leave reviews, so it's important to be polite, professional, and to arrive on time.

If you need to cancel a gig, you can do so through GoShare's app.

However, if you cancel the wrong way and make GoShare look bad, you incur certain penalities:

Cancellation: Don't pay a fee if you cancel within 48 hours or more of gig start. However, you pay a $20 fee for cancelling more than an hour from project start but under 24 hours and a $30 fee for canceling with less than an hour of notice.
No Show: Pay a $50 no-show fee. Your driver account might be deactivated or cancelled as well depending on the scenario.

However, if customers cancel, you're also protected.

If a customer cancels a project within 60 minutes of starting, you earn between $10.35 and $48.30 depending on your vehicle class.

Anyway,hopefullycancellations aren't an issue and you can just make money helping people move and by delivering packages!

5. Get Paid

Once you complete a gig, GoShare processes payments from the customer and pays you through direct deposit within 4 days.

This happens every week too, not biweekly, so you can make money quickly with this side hustle.

Note that GoShare technically pays you per minute, hence why they advertise hourly ranges for your earning potential.

This means you find out how much you earnaftera gig is done, which can be a nice surprise or slight annoyance depending on what you prefer.

How Much Do GoShare Drivers Make?

The beauty of GoShare is that your earnings depend on the type of vehicle and work you do, which is quite fair.

According to GoShare, here is the average pay per vehicle type:

Courier –Earn $36 to $42 per hour on average.
Pickup Truck– Earn $46 to $52 per hour on average.
Cargo Van– Earn $63 to $71 per hour on average.
Box Truck – Earn $85 per hour on average.

GoShare also states that top drivers earn over $1,200 per week.

However, I definitely wouldn't take this as gospel.

GoShare is a freelancer marketplace, so your earnings are impacted by how many gigs are available, how many drivers you compete with, and how many hours you put in.

Ultimately, GoShare is really a solid side hustle to boost your income or make money fast if you're sick of having no money.

For most, becoming a GoShare driver isn't a ticket to quit your day job, so keep this in mind!

Note: GoShare also offers a "fleet" option if you own several vehicles and have a team of delivery workers and want to ensure there's always work to do.

There's some interesting takeaways from this video.

Essentially, he breaks down how he can make more with GoShare than Dolly, but in his area, he gets more Dolly gig opportunities.

He also expresses his annoyance at the fact that GoShare pays you by minute, which he doesn't like when selecting gigs.

My advice is to try GoShare, see if it's worth it, but track your earnings and gas!

You need to report your income accurately on your taxes after all, and you can probably deduct mileage as well.
